Morocco's climate varies: the north is Mediterranean and the south is subtropical. The sea and the mountains help to maintain a pleasant climate with warm sunny days most of the year: the winters are mild and the summers are dry. Rain falls mostly in winter and the Atlas mountain peaks are covered with snow.

Morocco enjoys one of the worlds highest average daily hours of sunshine – 9 compared with 3.8 in London, 6.4 in Rome and 6.9 in New York.

The south of Morocco and Sahara desert area has an average annual rainfall of approximately 150mm compared to a world average of 857mm. From December to February the daytime temperatures are very high but the nights can be extremely cold.
